In our home we have a nook right off the dining area and living room. I knew this would be perfect for a china hutch. I needed storage for our wedding china and thought it would be nice to have a bar area too. As I looked on pinterest I saw a white cabinets with copper handles and knew exactly what I wanted. I was on the hunt on craigslist for a china hutch I could paint. I thought I had before pictures but unfortunately, I don’t. This piece of furniture was brown and in need of some TLC so I didn’t feel bad about painting it. We cleaned it up, took off all the cabinets and the glass out, sanded it, primed and painted. I used spray paint on the handles and have been pleased with the wear – it has stayed on which I was worried about. The project took what seemed like forever. The hutch itself took numerous coats of white paint and I noticed recently needs a couple touch-ups. I love this piece of furniture and get lots of compliments.
We were in our Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Pittsboro and I saw the glass holder. I thought we could either attach it under the top piece or hang it. We used leftover chain from hanging a pot rack, which I used the copper spray paint on.
I really love the detail of the handles on this hutch. The copper mugs and muddler/spoon are from Crate and Barrel. The cute copper pineapple mold is from an antique store and the cute drink stirs are from my mom which she collected over the years and I loved to look at when I was a kid. Now i’m obsessed with updating our furniture. We have a bunch of pieces from IKEA that I plan to paint white. I’ll post before and after pics. I’m excited because I took a class on painting furniture and purchased paint that I won’t have to use a number of coats on.
